This cutting-edge vision system is a complete solution to your on-line packaging inspection requirements. It is an automated, camera inspection system, specially developed to inspect on-line overprinting on labels, leaflets, pouches, cartons and any other form of packaging, across various industries.

PACK i® vision systems comprise of highly advanced "smart" cameras from Cognex. These self-contained camera units combine a library of advanced vision tools for high-speed image acquisition and processing. The principle on which PACK i operates ensures that these vision systems can give you a reliable and repeatable performance, even with regard to the most challenging vision applications.

This highly advanced Cognex vision system can be used for 1D and 2D barcode verification as well as for pharma code verification. It can also perform extremely complex tasks like OCR (Optical Character Recognition) /OCV (Optical Character Verification) and pattern matching. Thus, a single PACK i system can perform five different tasks.

Apart from its versatility of application, it is extremely user friendly.

Solutions Offered


PACK i® can be used for OCR (Optical Character Recognition) and OCV (Optical Character Verification). Propix's OCR and OCV tool is known for its ease of use, its read rates and the speed at which it processes complex images. This powerful algorithm prevents misreads, handles process variations and provides easy font management. It's fast, easy to set up and simple to use across all platforms, with minimal training being required.

Pharma Code

PACK i® can inspect pharma codes by calculating their values and verifying the same against the actual values. In this way, the automatic inspection system verifies that the particular label/carton belongs to the same batch, checking for batch/lot mix-ups.

Bar Code

PACK i® can be used for barcode verification. It reads, evaluates and verifies the barcode printed on labels/cartons, weeding out erroneous labels/cartons. For this function of PACK i, no teaching is required.

2D code

PACK i® is equipped to read, decode and verify 2D codes (like Data Matrix Codes). While functioning as a 2D barcode reader (or Data Matrix Code Reader), PACK i scans the small area containing a lot of information, very quickly and accurately, wedding out errors instantaneously.

Presence Verification

PACK i® can be used to verify the presence of a particular pattern on the label. The Cognex vision system is also capable of performing pattern matching in which it compares shape, size and contour of the existing image with master image, with given tolerances.

System Specification

We offer 2 versions of the Cognex vision system, PACK i:

PACK i for normal applications

For defect detection in normal font sizes in smaller areas, this version of the automatic inspection system, which comprises of a "smart" camera with standard resolution and standard optics, is appropriate and effective.

PACK i Pro for more complex applications

For applications where large areas or very small font sizes need to be inspected, a higher resolution camera is required. PACK i Pro is equipped with a high resolution and advanced optics "smart" camera for greater speed and precision. This version of the automatic inspection system could also include custom designed illumination.



An enhanced LCD screen displays the image online along with the essential graphic user interface. The specified areas on the image are colourfully highlighted to quickly indicate good or bad signal.

Touch screen

A touch screen mounted on the LCD is provided for the user to key in the commands. This eliminates the use of keyboards and other pointing devices.

Tower Light

A translucent tower light located at the top, indicates good and bad signals with green and red colours along with a buzzer for errors, making errors easy to recognize, even from far away.
